Guest speaker will include Dr. Lynette N. Tannis - juvenile justice education expert
Lynette is a juvenile justice education expert and an expert on literacy, leadership, and inclusivity. She is on faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she teaches a course she designed, titled, Educating Incarcerated Youth: Practice, Research, Policy, and Advocacy. Lynette is the author of Educating Incarcerated Youth: Exploring the Impact of Relationships, Expectations, Resources, and Accountability and Surviving Elder Financial Abuse. Her work is also featured in the Teachers College Record, Harvard Kennedy School’s Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management, the Harvard Educational Review, the National Association for Public Defense, educationpost, Education Week, and the Harvard Ed. Magazine.
Lynette believes every child – free or incarcerated – deserves a high-quality education. As an education consultant, practitioner, researcher, and advocate, Lynette serves as a resource to support global, state, and local juvenile justice and education leaders and learners in traditional and carceral spaces.
Lynette holds both a Doctor of Education degree and a Master of Education Policy and Management degree from Harvard University, a Master of Educational Administration with distinction degree from Kean University, and a Bachelor of Elementary Education cum laude degree from Greensboro College.
