Transition Services for Justice-Involved Youth and Young Adults with Disabilities

The Center for Advancing Policy on Employment for Youth invites you to our discussion on Transition Services for Justice-Involved Youth and Young Adults with Disabilities. Our goal is to better understand the lived experience of justice-involved youth, and how that intersectional experience uniquely impacts access to employment, education, and more. We also seek to learn about the supports and services provided for this population by practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders.

The discussion takes place over a virtual session on Monday, November 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST, and will be divided into two sessions.

Session 1 (1pm-2pm) will involve an introduction by each participant on their organization, goals, services provided, and policies enacted.

Session 2 (2pm-3pm) will involve a discussion on challenges, opportunities, and successful programs in the areas of skills development, education, and post-incarceration. A more detailed agenda will be out before the event.

Specifically, we have invited stakeholders who work with justice-involved youth with disabilities in the following areas:
1. Skills Development/Career & Technical Education
2. Educational Attainment
3. Employment/Post-Incarceration and Community Supervision
