Paving the Way to Education for Students Experiencing Homelessness
This Nebraska Department of Education webinar, offered in partnership with Pearl Strategies and SchoolHouse Connection, will provide a brief summary of the educational rights and supports available to students experiencing homelessness and will feature a panel of Nebraska students with lived experience of homelessness.
Pearl Strategies will "frame the session" with a brief overview of the McKinney-Vento Act. Then, the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation Connected Youth Initiative will host a panel of three Nebraska youth who have experienced homelessness and yet demonstrated remarkable resilience and persistence, including along their educational journey. Hear directly from students about their educational experiences and their recommendations to schools and service providers on how better to meet the needs of students experiencing homelessness.
